Inis Oirr Lightouse
lighthouse.jpg

The Lighthouse is at the southern end of Inis Oirr. There is a small road around the eastern edge of the island which leads to the Lighthouse. From the road you get wonderful views of the Cliffs of Moher and you pass the wreck of the Plassey. This ship features in the opening credits of the Fr. Ted TV comedy programme. You can't miss it!

Thainig Siad!

Look what the ferry brought in. There is one pub on Inis Mean plus the bar of the hotel. We were in the pub one afternoon, having a well-deserved pint after spending the day walking in the pelting rain. Just a few other customers, reading the papers and having a quiet chat. Out of nowhere about fifty visitors to the language school descended on the place to have a final farewell before returning to the mainland. The next hour was was one loud sing-song and a 2-deep crowd at the small bar. The ferry docked and they departed as suddenly as the came.
